I have an invitation letter from a friend in Canada, Do I have to?

Ohhh! A friend invited you to Canada and even wrote you a letter! That means youre automatically in and your friend will take care of all of your expenses. Uh, no. Thats not how it works. An invitation letter means nothing. It will be ignored. Dont even pull it out. No one in Canada can be responsible for your stay in terms of paying for it or even getting you there outside of a spouse. You will be required to provide proof of funds for the entire duration of your stay and explain the purpose of such. Saying youre going to visit a friend is fine. Expect to be answer questions about the friendship. Keep the letter in your pocket. An invitation to visit outside of a conference where you are the speaker and in the letterhead isnt worth the paper it is printed on. Save your paper and your breath in trying to show it.
